We have a Keithley 2450 source meter that has issues with establishing a connection due to it changing IP addresses. On one day we were able to get it connected through an address that it seems to pick up easily, but later that same day the address changes, and trying to connect to it no longer picks up the new address.

The device will occasionally change back to the original address, where it can establish the connection just fine, but it's not a reliable way to get past this problem if we're needing to test with it at any given time. Is there any way to disable this at all? Or at least explain why the change is happening. Applying an IP address through its communication settings will not solve the issue, or reflect the changes when detecting it through the PC. A USB connection doesn't overwrite the preferred method for connection, which still searches for an IP address even when connected to both means.

Let me know if there's any need for clarification.

Thanks

The LAN communication can be applied from your router (DHCP) or selected manually.

Sounds like you have been using DHCP and the router is periodically giving new address?

Perhaps you can reserve an address in the router setup and manually configure the instrument to use it?
