Hi all, I have an MDO3054 that I bought new in 2015 and use about once a month. It runs firmware 1.30.

It shows two issues, not sure whether they are related.

(1) When turned on after having been off for a few hours, it boots up successfully, but fails the power-on self test. It still can be used, but channels 3 and 4 don't work. Pressing the respective buttons results in "The oscilloscope encountered a command in a file which it cannot execute" etc. When running the self tests through the Utiliy menu, the RF self-test fails (no probes connected during self test).

(2) After tuning the scope on, channels 1 and 2 work fine for about half an hour to an hour, after which the scope starts to power cycle and try to reboot randomly, with audible clicking. When turned off and on again, the power cycling continues. When turned off for a while, it would manage to boot up and work again for a little bit before the random power cycling resumes.

Has anybody encountered these symptoms? Any idea what the causes are, and how the scope could be fixed? Thanks!

Hi,
this is not a behavior caused by FW issues.
One of more hardware parts are defective, but we can't provide a remote diagnosis.
Recommendation if contact Local Support and get ask for a Repair offer.
