TBS2000/TBS2104 Firmware Damaged failure - Can't load updates
TBS2000/TBS2104 Firmware Damaged failure - Can't load updates

Has anyone come across a case where the firmware on the TBS2000 (or similar scope) becomes damaged?
The backup is stored on the scope, and that is also damaged.
On this model, the firmware can't be updated by inserting the USB stick containing the firmware. It can only be updated from within the scope, which is impossible in this case.
I would rather not have to send this to Tek. Anyone dealt with this, or know how to address?
Please see the images
Thanks!

Hi Julius,
Is it possible you installed the TBS2000B firmware instead of the TBS2000 firmware?
This is a known problem and the only solution I know of is to send it in for repair.

Hello Afonso -
Thanks for the response. I didn't install the firmware on it.
What would cause the backup firmware also to be damaged?
Sending it in for repair isn't an option, as the repair cost is prohibitive.
Thanks for any other insight.

Hi Julius,
I am not aware for a mechanism that would cause this on the TBS2000. It's possible it's a hardware failure from aging.

Thanks for the response.
I'm taking it that only a factory repair will solve this issue then?
Any other way to load a new firmware on it without the normal procedure? For example, is there a way to load through a COM port or similar?
Thanks

Hi Julius,
That's correct, it would have to be sent in for repair.
It might be covered under warranty, it's worth checking:

Wouldn't you know it. The Manufacturer warranty ended on June 2023.
Unless I hear from someone else with a solution, this will become a fancy door stop.
Thanks for your responses Afonso.

Hi Julius,
That's an unusually short lifespan for the instrument, I will be contacting you through email to see if we can still honor the warranty or resolve this in some other way.

For all who might be interested - I am still seeking a solution short of returning it to Tektronix for an expensive repair.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, tips and advice.
