We have a 3706 (old but working normal) with Firmware 1.01h. Got the upgrade downloads for 1.32A, 1.40k and 1.41c. I followed the upgrade instructions and prepared a thumb drive with the two upgrade files (nb0 and cab). After power-on the instrument starts using the thumb drive (LED blinks) but doesn't enter into the upgrade sequence. In the upgrade instructions they say one should do nothing but wait some minutes (and then some LAN initialization). The instrument just boots normal and "Slot" still displays 1.01h.

What's the trick for firmware upgrade? Need to unpack the cab file? Need to use the upgrade command? Some jumper?

Regards, Dieter

Just confirming you have the older 3706 and not the 3706A?

Assuming 3706, page 7-2 of User Manual has the upgrade instructions.

With the thumb drive inserted, you need to use the menu to navigate to the UPGRADE screen. Then the content from the thumb drive will be applied.
The two files that you placed will cause any "autoexec" application of the firmware update.

Thanks, yes this is the 3706.
Today i queried a print(localnode.info()) and saw the instrument already reported the new OS that is in the second file. I assume it was applied during power-on with the thumb drive in place. Probably the LED blinking i saw.
So i used the Menu -> Upgrade command and it worked as described in the pdf instructions for upgrades from more recent versions. The instrument boots and takes measurements.

Regards, Dieter
