What is the waveform update rate of TBS2204B as well as TDS2024C? We notice a huge difference in update rate in practice, though the former is supposed to be a continuation of the latter

Hi,

For the TDS-2KC at 5ms/division (50ms total capture) with a fixed record length of 2500 samples should have a sample rate of 50Ks/sec. Or, it takes about 50ms to fill a 2500 sample record length on this scope.

For the TBS-2KB at 4ms/division (40ms total capture) the scope fixes a sample rate at 312KS/sec which means to fill a 20,000-sample record length takes about 64ms vs the 50ms it took to fill the TDS-2KC’s 2500 sample RL. This makes the update rate appear to be slower than the TDS-2KC.

Also depending on your signals’ frequency, I also think we may be seeing some aliasing effects (due to a lower sample rate), which can show up as a slowed waveform refresh rate.

You can halve your horizontal to 2ms / division (20ms total capture), which for a 20K record length will double the sample rate to 624Ks/sec (fixed value for a RL of 20K samples for this scope) which should help with the refresh rate.
