While testing software via the 2010/2400 GPIB. We are receiving a "256" code. What does this mean?

This is not an error code but a status returned from the GPIB function ibwrt(). It is not specific to any make or manufacture of remote instrument. Code 256 refers to bit 8 (2^8) of the ibsta (status byte of the GPIB interface). Code 256 indicates that the IO operation has completed.
